Two New Online Therapy Groups Starting This October

Dr Jenner's Group Therapy Post

Two online therapy groups begin this October with Dr Nicholas Jenner. Codependency: Awareness to Action focuses on turning insight into behavioural change, while Narcissistic Abuse Recovery supports emotional healing, identity restoration and healthier relationships. Both programmes provide structured, small-group therapeutic work delivered online via Zoom.

One of the things I have increasingly recognised in my work is the value of bringing people together who are dealing with similar relational difficulties. Individual therapy offers a private space to explore our own experiences in depth, but group work offers something different. There can be considerable value in discovering that the patterns, fears and emotional reactions we have struggled with are also understood by others.

This October, I will be starting two new online therapeutic groups. The first will focus on codependency and moving from awareness into action. The second will focus on recovery from narcissistic abuse.

Although there is inevitably some overlap between these areas, the two programmes have very different purposes.

Codependency: Awareness to Action

Starting Sunday, October 4th, 2026

Many people who come to me for help with codependency already understand themselves extremely well.

They recognise the people-pleasing, rescuing, fixing, monitoring and difficulty saying no. They understand that they put other people’s needs ahead of their own. They may have spent considerable time looking at childhood experiences, attachment patterns and the origins of their behaviour.

The problem is that awareness does not necessarily change what happens when they are triggered.

You can know perfectly well that you are not responsible for another person’s mood and still feel compelled to fix it. You can understand that you have every right to set a boundary and still experience enormous guilt when you do. You can recognise that another adult is responsible for their own choices while your nervous system reacts as though their disappointment is a threat to the relationship.

This is the gap between knowing and doing, and it is the central focus of Codependency: Awareness to Action.

Across six 90-minute online sessions, participants will choose one recurring codependent pattern and follow it through the programme. We will look at how the pattern is triggered, what happens in the nervous system, the protective parts that become involved and the behaviours that follow.

As the programme develops, the emphasis moves towards action: creating a pause before responding, regulating emotional activation, establishing boundaries, separating your responsibilities from those of another adult and learning to tolerate the discomfort that often accompanies healthier choices.

The final stage is about reclaiming something that can easily become lost in codependent relationships: yourself.

Your needs, preferences, values, individuality and direction.

The aim is not to become completely independent or never triggered again. It is to develop a greater ability to recognise what is happening and create enough space to make a different choice.

Codependency: Awareness to Action begins October 4th, 2026 and consists of six weekly 90-minute online sessions. The fee for the complete programme is $300 USD per person.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

Starting Sunday, October 18th, 2026

My second October group is for people at a different stage of the relational journey.

You may still be in a relationship with someone displaying narcissistic behaviour, or the relationship may have ended but its effects have not.

Leaving a narcissistic relationship does not necessarily mean leaving the experience behind.

The effects can continue in the form of self-doubt, anxiety, difficulty trusting your own judgement, confusion about what happened, weakened boundaries and a loss of connection with the person you were before the relationship.

The purpose of Narcissistic Abuse Recovery is to provide a small, private therapeutic group in which these experiences can be understood and worked through alongside other people who have been through something similar.

This is a four-session programme, with each 90-minute session combining psychoeducation, reflection, somatic practice and exercises to continue between meetings.

We begin by understanding the impact of narcissistic abuse and validating the experience itself. This includes looking at emotional, cognitive, relational and physical responses, as well as understanding how manipulation and conditioning can gradually affect thoughts, beliefs and behaviour.

From there, we turn towards rebuilding identity and boundaries. Narcissistic relationships can cause people to lose confidence in their own perceptions, preferences and needs. Recovery therefore involves reconnecting with values, strengths and desires while learning how healthy boundaries can become an expression of both self-protection and self-respect.

The third session concentrates particularly on emotional healing and nervous-system repair. Participants will learn grounding and self-regulation techniques designed to make difficult emotions more manageable and begin restoring a greater sense of safety.

Our final session turns towards the future: rebuilding self-trust, recognising healthy and unhealthy relational dynamics and developing the communication and boundary skills necessary for healthier relationships.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery begins October 18th, 2026 and runs for four weekly 90-minute sessions on October 18th and 25th and November 1st and 8th. Sessions are held on Sundays at 2 PM EST, 7 PM GMT and 8 PM CET.

Participants will also receive free access to my Codependency Self-Help Programme, normally valued at $390 USD.

The fee for the complete Narcissistic Abuse Recovery programme is $300 USD per person.

Why Work in a Group?

Both programmes are deliberately kept small.

Group therapy is not about being forced to disclose deeply personal experiences in front of strangers. Nobody will be expected to share more than they are comfortable sharing.

Instead, the group provides an opportunity to work within a structured therapeutic environment while also experiencing something that individual work cannot completely reproduce: being alongside people who recognise many of the same patterns.

For someone struggling with codependency, that might mean discovering that the guilt they experience after setting a boundary is not unusual. For someone recovering from narcissistic abuse, it may be hearing another person describe an experience they had previously struggled to explain.

That recognition can itself become an important part of the work.

Both programmes are ultimately concerned with moving forward. Understanding the past matters, but the therapeutic task is also to determine what we do with that understanding now.

For the codependency group, that means moving from awareness towards different choices and behaviour.

For the narcissistic abuse group, it means moving from the impact of what happened towards emotional healing, restored identity, stronger boundaries and healthier ways of relating.

Places in both groups will be limited in order to maintain the privacy and therapeutic nature of the sessions.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which group is right for me?

The codependency group is designed for people who want to change recurring patterns such as people-pleasing, over-functioning and difficulty setting boundaries. The narcissistic abuse recovery group is for people working through the continuing effects of a relationship marked by narcissistic behaviour. A free initial consultation can help you consider the best fit.

Do I have to share personal experiences in the group?

No. Participants are encouraged to work at a pace that feels manageable and will not be expected to disclose more than they are comfortable sharing.

Where are the sessions held?

Both programmes are delivered online via Zoom, so participants can attend from a private location with a reliable internet connection.
